Frequently Asked Questions

Check below for answers to commonly-asked questions about the services provided by LWD

Q: OK, I want Libera Web Design to make my website. What next??

A: First, you should have a domain name and web host. If you know how to go about obtaining a domain name and/or web hosting package, you are welcome to do so. However, if this is your first website, or if you just don't know what you're looking for, please contact us! We'll be more than happy to explain everything, and to make our recommendations.

Second, be prepared to discuss what you want on your website. This discussion does not need to be in-depth or very 'techy,' but it will help us to get you exactly what you want.

From there, we go through a series of design and approval phases, gradually completing your website. For more detailed information on our process, and for a helpful checklist, click here.

Q: What do I need to provide for LWD during the design process?

A: Most people like to write their own copy/content. If you decide to take this route, files can be sent to LWD in Microsoft Word or RTF (Rich Text Format). You'll also need to provide any pictures and music that you'd like to appear on the site.

Q: Does Libera Web Design offer web hosting plans?

A: Currently, no. We are happy to recommend UK-based hoster TinyHosts. In the future, we may expand our services to include hosting options, but not right now.

Q: Do I need to meet with a LWD designer in person?

A: No. Though in-person meetings are certainly a possibility, Libera Web Design does most of its work remotely. We communicate frequently with clients via e-mail and phone (if desired). Clients are also able to obtain information about their projects 24/7 using the Client Services login system.

Q: Once my website is finished, who 'owns' the website?

A: This is a tricky question, and is a decision that varies among different web designers. With Libera Web Design, you own most of the website. The content, pictures, and other media on the page are yours, while the design itself remains property of Libera Web Design.

Q: What happens when it's time to update my website?

A: LWD will provide a package of free software for you to make it possible for you to make future updates. If you have no web experience, or do not feel comfortable updating the site yourself, we are happy to perform updates at the regular hourly rate (1 hour min.).

Q: How will my site be found by search engines?

A: Libera Web Design will insert META tags, which describe your site to search engines, into each website. Eventually, the sites will be found on Google, Yahoo!, and other major search engines, but not necessarily right away. This process involves these engines updating their own web indexes; LWD has no control over the speed of the listing. If desired, LWD will help you to purchase premium listing space from search engines.
